Med-TSO is pleased to present the 2040 Mediterranean Energy Scenario Report, a key deliverable of the TEASIMED 2 project. This comprehensive document explores how the region’s electricity systems could evolve over the next two decades, outlining three strategic scenarios: Inertial, Proactive, and Mediterranean Ambition.
These scenarios provide a robust foundation for future interconnection planning, integrating emerging technologies like green hydrogen and electric mobility. With a strong emphasis on sustainability, the report evaluates electricity demand growth, renewable energy deployment, and CO₂ emission reductions across the Mediterranean.
A dedicated focus is given to the modelling of green hydrogen in North Africa and the impact of smart electric vehicle charging strategies. Through regional cooperation and scenario-based analysis, the report charts a course toward a decarbonised, integrated, and resilient Mediterranean power system.
