Secretary General in Algiers to the 2nd CAGRÉ conference organized by ARELEC
The ARELEC, the “Association des Réseaux Electriques haute tension en Algérie”, organized the second CAGRÉ Conference on “Electricity Transmission Networks in the Era of Energy Transition”, in Algiers on 26-28 February 2019.
The conference carried out within three days, with five plenary sessions and several oral sessions and workshops on different issues, manly related to the integration of renewables, the system operations and transmissions.
Secretary General Angelo Ferrante, participated to a special workshop focused on Med-TSO activities, held on 27 February. The workshop was chaired by Mr. Aziz Ameyoud, President of the Algerian System Operator and Chairman of Med-TSO Technical Committee “International Electricity Exchange”, and by Mr. Bruno Cova, Head of Power Systems, Markets & Regulatory Studies at CESI, Milan.
Mr. Ferrante presented Med-TSO Association, its role in the Mediterranean region and the activities carried out in the frame of the Mediterranean Project 1 (completed in 2018) and the Mediterranean Project 2 (ongoing), with a special emphasis on the “Mediterranean Masterplan of the electricity interconnections”, available on Med-TSO website.
ARELEC was created in 1994 by Sonelgaz (the Algerian utility in gas and power sector), universities and industry. The objective of the technical and scientific meetings organized by the association is to gather electrical industry and universities for networking, knowledge and best practices exchanges.
CAGRE is the Algerian Committee of the CIGRÉ, the International Council on Large Electric Systems (Conseil International des Grands Réseaux Électrique) which works as a global community committed to the collaborative development and sharing of power system expertise. The community features thousands of professionals from over 90 countries and 1250 member organizations, including some of the world’s leading experts. Med-TSO is member of CIGRÉ and participated to the last CIGRÉ Plenary Session in Paris on August 2018 with two papers, available here.
