Med-TSO held its 31st General Assembly in Antalya

Antalya, 28 May 2025

Today, Med-TSO held its 31st General Assembly in Antalya, Türkiye. The meeting, hosted by EMRA (Türkiye’s regulator) and Teiaş (Türkiye’s Transmission System Operator), followed the productive joint workshop with MEDREG, the association of Mediterranean Energy Regulators, highlighting the growing importance of multilateral cooperation and knowledge sharing.

The agenda for the 31st General Assembly was packed with critical discussions and decisions. A key item on the agenda was the appointment of a new Vice President for Med-TSO. The organization expressed gratitude to Mr. Ramon Granadino from Red Electrica, who is stepping down from his role after many years of pursuing new challenges within his company. Jasón Besga, Director of Public Affairs at Redeia, Spain, has been unanimously elected as the new Vice President with a mandate until 14 November 2026

A sizable portion of the deliberations focused on the TEASIMED 2 project. Attendees received a comprehensive update on the project’s technical and financial progress, along with discussions on organising the final events to showcase its valuable outcomes.

Relations with stakeholders had a prominent role in the meeting: Milou Beerepoot, EC Programme Manager Regional Energy Programmes Neighbourhood South, participated in the Assembly, addressing Med-TSO’s about DG MENA work with DG ENERGY to set up a Trans-Mediterranean Energy and Clean Tech Cooperation Initiative, “T-MED”, aiming to increase renewable energy production and trading, and boost clean tech manufacturing in the region. The Commission is interested in Med-TSO activities, and there is the possibility for a new grant to Med-TSO.

Concrete actions have also been discussed to strengthen collaborations with the Gulf Countries and the Africa Union Development Agency, recognizing the immense potential for constructive collaboration and mutual benefit across these regions.

Finally, to further underscore Med-TSO’s commitment to integrity, the assembly evaluated a first draft of the organization’s Ethical Code, a document designed to uphold the highest standards of transparency in all its endeavours. Financial stability has also been a central theme, with the presentation and approval of the 2024 Balance Sheet.

These two days of activity in Antalya started with the joint workshop and concluded with a meeting of Med-TSO’s Technical Regulation, underscoring once again Med-TSO’s dedication to fostering a robust and integrated energy landscape across the Mediterranean and beyond.
