Med-TSO was honoured to participate in the ‘Powering the Future Toward Net Zero’ international forum held on October 27-28 at the Kempinski Al Othman Hotel in Al Khobar, Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Co-organized with the GCC Interconnection Authority (GCCIA), EPRI, and GO15, the event brought together over 35 speakers from nearly a dozen countries to foster collaboration and advance discussions on the future of the energy sector.
Med-TSO Secretary General Angelo Ferrante and Vice President Vincent Thouvenin joined global leaders to share insights on grid integration, cross-border collaboration, and the vital roles of storage and flexibility within the Mediterranean and beyond. Emphasising the need for resilient grid infrastructure, they highlighted how enhanced regional cooperation can support ambitious decarbonisation goals and bolster grid stability.
The forum covered critical topics, including grid planning, market reforms, AI’s role in grid operations, and the deployment of grid-enhancing technologies. With contributions from CEOs, senior advisors, and government representatives, the discussions underscored how cross-border integration and collaboration are essential to advancing energy transition goals and achieving net-zero commitments.
Building on the outcomes of COP28, this forum reinforced the importance of partnerships in creating a sustainable, interconnected energy future across regions. The shared insights will play a pivotal role in guiding Med-TSO’s ongoing efforts toward cross-regional energy solutions.
