Secretary General in Alger
Last Tuesday the Secretary General of Med-TSO met in Alger the Ministry of Energy of Algeria, Mr. Noureddine Boutarfa, former President of Med-TSO.
Mr Ferrante thanked the Minister for Energy for the dynamism he gave to Med-TSO and for the trajectory he set for the development of this association.
At the meeting, the Minister of Energy expressed his satisfaction with Med-TSO’s contribution to the project of building an integrated and secure network for the transmission of electricity in the Mediterranean, through coordinated actions at institutional level for member’s countries.
The minister also called for intensify efforts and support for all institutional initiatives aimed at facilitating the creation of a Mediterranean energy market and developing an integrated, secure and sustainable regional electricity transport network. He also stressed the need for Med-TSO to focus more on the studies and implementation of a shared database in order to become a competent and proactive player, as well as a source of proposals for the institutions and other European and Mediterranean stakeholders.
The two sides also discussed the integration of renewable energies in the networks as a priority issue to which the association can contribute by developing studies and exchanging experiences, particularly in the management of more volatile electricity flows, and greater distances than today.
