12th Med-TSO’s General Assembly in Amman, Jordan
Med-TSO announced today the election of Mr. Ameur Bchir as new President of the Association, replacing the former President Mr. Noureddine Boutarfa, appointed in June as Minister of Energy for Algeria. Mr. Ameur Bchir, aged 65, of Tunisian nationality, is currently Chief Executive Officer at STEG (Société Tunisienne de l’Electricité et du Gaz) and will hold the Presidency of Med-TSO for the next 3 years.
Mr Ameur Bchir said: “I am excited and honored to take on this role. I want say thank you to Mr. Boutarfa, for the work done so far as first President of the Association. I am also grateful to Mr Victor Baptista [from REN, the Portuguese TSO, ed.], for his constructive role as acting President of Med-TSO in these months. I hope that we will carry out our activities with the same motivation that guided us in the past and allowed us to achieve our objectives.”
The new President has been elected unanimously by the General Assembly held in Amman (Jordan) and hosted by NEPCO, the Jordanian TSO. The General Assembly also appointed Mr. Hakki Özata (Deputy General Manager of TEIAS, Turkish TSO member) as one of the six Vice-Presidents of the Association, replacing Mr. Ibrahim Balanuye (TEIAS), who has recently retired.
After the renewal of the top management, the Members discussed the progress of the work of Med-TSO, the development of the Mediterranean Project and the future Agenda.
