The Executive Board of Med-TSO during its last session in Lisbon debated on how should Med-TSO act within the framework of its multiple associates that have interests in the energy sector in the Mediterranean.
As usual, this meeting gave the guidelines to the association before proceeding to another main issue in the agenda: the resignation of President Boutarfa on 25 June 2016, due to his appointment as Minister of Energy in Algeria.
Vice-President Victor Baptista from REN, the Portuguese TSO, has officially taken the role of acting President of Med-TSO until the appointment of a new President.
The acting president thanked Mr. Boutarfa for his valuable work as first President of the Association and for the important results achieved so far.
The election of the new President, chosen among Representatives of the Members in the General Assembly, will take place by secret ballot at the next General Assembly meeting in Amman, Jordan, on 20 October 2016.
The board also expressed willingness to strengthen the Members’ participation on Med-TSO activities as well as planned actions aimed at increasing the participation of Mediterranean TSOs that are not members of the association.
