On Tuesday 16 June 2026, Med-TSO hosted a public webinar to present the Summer Outlook 2026. The webinar provided insights into the Mediterranean region’s seasonal probabilistic power
system adequacy assessments.
Opened by Angelo Ferrante, Secretary General of Med-TSO, the webinar aimed to offer
comprehensive support to TSOs and relevant stakeholders in making balanced and consistent
decisions regarding the adequacy of their power systems.
The moderation of the event was entrusted to Anas El Hraiech, Med-TSO’s Teasimed 3 Project
Manager, who gave an overview of Med-TSO’s Adequacy Assessment studies developed in the
framework of the project.
Curated by Ahmed Elshami, Med-TSO Technical Officer, the presentation of the results of the
Summer Outlook 2026 answered critical questions such as the capacity needed to cover power
demand under ordinary and severe climate conditions and the role of interconnections in mitigating
shortage situations: the assessment highlights the significant impact of interconnections on system
reliability, particularly in reducing loss-of-load risk (LOLE) and expected relative energy not served
(EENS).
The Outlook also provides a detailed analysis of the adequacy situation from May 25, 2026, to
October 4, 2026, across six MED-TSO countries: Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Jordan, and
Lebanon.
The publication of the Summer Outlook 2026 report, the only seasonal assessment including not-
ENTSO-E members Mediterranean countries, underscores once more Med-TSO’s commitment
towards the creation of the Mediterranean energy market.
